There are many reasons why more students than ever are choosing to take an intentional Gap Year:
A Gap Year can be a valuable tool to help re-orient your journey to success. Statistics show that taking a Gap Year after high school can produce impactful results on your life, educational pursuits, and career prospects. Graduates who engage in intentional Gap Year programs report more clarity, confidence, maturity, and motivation.
Afraid that a Gap Year will cause you to "fall behind" or never return to school? Research has shown that 90% of students who take an intentional Gap Year return to pursue further higher education and they do so with more direction, purpose, focus and drive. They are also more likely to graduate and to maintain higher GPAs in their post-secondary studies than students who do not take a Gap Year.
"Sophia" is 18 and just graduated from high school. She wants a little more time to figure herself out before committing to a college path. She was an overachiever in high school, involved in many sports, clubs, and activities, and did everything that others told her would make her "successful." But now she realizes that she doesn't really know what she wants out of life and has never had a real job. She feels that a Gap Year would help her gain clarity, confidence, direction, and guidance.
"Emma" did what everyone said she should do. She went straight from high school to college. But, she has changed her major 3 times already and has failed some of her coursework due to burnout and confusion. She is now 20 years old, has some student debt, and isn't sure that she wants to return to campus this fall. College wasn't what she expected and she would like to try gaining work experience for a year, but doesn't want to move back home with her parents.
"Lucas" is 19 years old and has always been a hard worker and never felt that the college path was right for him. He's been working and earning money, but doesn't have a clear direction yet for his career. He lives with his parents, but is yearning for a place of his own, but the cost of living is making it difficult for him. He could use some guidance, financial training, and a group of friends to do life with while he figures out his next steps.
