Admissions Process
Step One:
Eligibility Criteria-
- High school or homeschool graduate
- Age 18 by fall of 2025
- Licensed driver with reliable transportation
- Previous work experience (preferred)
- Willing and available to live and work in Toledo, Ohio from September 2025 - July 2026
- Ready for an adventure
Step Three:
Interview Process-
- Melanie, your on-site Program Director, will contact you by email or text
- Schedule an interview with the GapQuest team
- Your 1.5-hour interview will have 3 components:
- An individual in-person interview with the GapQuest team - 20 minutes
- A tour of the gap year student housing - 10 minutes
- A meeting with you and your family to discuss the program expectations, financial commitments, and to answer any questions - 1 hour
Tuition & Housing Fees
GapQuest 11-Month Program Tuition
$500 deposit due upon acceptance to secure your housing.
(Apply by March 31 to lock in current rates)
$3,000 one-time tuition payment,
due by August 1, 2025
Payable to "achi, LLC" by check, Venmo, or Zelle
GapQuest Tuition Covers:
- 11-months of structured guidance & mentoring
- 22 professional development workshops
- Co-op job matching, placement, and coordination
- Roommate matching, conflict resolution, and independent apartment life coaching
- 44 weeks of paid work experience
- One-on-one personal financial coaching
- One-on-one individualized career & education coaching
- Monthly group dinner
- An on-site Resident Advisor/Program Director who is a licensed teacher and holds a Master's degree in Education
- Professional connections, resources, & a plan for what comes next after your Gap Year
GapQuest Monthly Student Housing Fees
Furnished apartment pricing is based on the number of roommates. Students pay their monthly rent (September 1-July 31) directly to the management of Westwood Square. Each student signs an individual 11-month lease. (A parent/guardian co-signer may be required)
The only utility that students pay is electric, which is payable to Toledo Edison and divided by the number of roommates.(Security deposit of $395 will be refunded at the end of the program if no damages are made to the apartment)
GapQuest: Gap Year Experience is a "Cost-Positive" Program

GapQuest students work an average of 32 hours per week during their 11-month Gap Year journey. Through individual and group financial coaching and budgeting workshops, students will learn the value of their hard-earned dollars and be encouraged to follow the guidelines of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Students will earn back their initial tuition investment, pay for their living expenses, and still have the opportunity to build a nest egg for whatever comes next. Instead of student loan debt, disciplined GapQuest completers will have money in their pockets!
